Petition to Broken Arrow City Council

Masking in Broken Arrow OK

The Broken Arrow City Council must take additional steps to protect our community from Covid-19. Broken Arrow is in the second-highest concentrated infectious location in the State of Oklahoma. Our state is in the top three most infectious states in the nation. This shameful statistic results in an increasing number of our friends, neighbors, relatives, and employees who are being stricken with this disease. The B.1.17 mutated strain of the virus has been discovered in the United States. It has resulted in an extreme lock down in Great Britain. The White House SARS-CoV-2 Task Force, the Centers for Disease Control, and the National Institutes for Health, in addition to local and state health departments and physicians, all consistently produce figures from quantitative scientific research, showing measurable effects of mask-wearing in cities. The results of this research prove that wearing masks does indeed slow the spread of SARS-CoV-2. The current lack of a policy is a failure to protect citizens, particularly those who must work in the public and risk exposure to the airborne virus from an unmasked pubic repeatedly throughout the day. Every statistic on transmission in Broken Arrow has risen to extraordinary levels. Nearly any added emphasis on mask wearing would be an improvement. We support a mask ordinance to help schools and businesses remain open both, deserve our support.  We support a city-wide mask ordinance because Broken Arrow is not an “island” within the Greater Tulsa area, and the infectious climate here contributes to area hospitals and ICU units being overwhelmed and medical personnel being taxed to a breaking point. If the contagion gets worse what we do now can prevent the eventual collapse of our health system. We support a city-wide mask ordinance because the first goal of any level of effective government is the protection of the community it is called to govern. We support a mask ordinance because, the unequivocal support of city leaders to this basic public health strategy is important to encourage mask wearing. We support a city-wide mask mandate because our masks protect you, and your masks will protect us. The higher the percentage of people wearing masks, the lower the rate of spreading the infection. We support a mask ordinance because endangering the health and lives of others by refusing to wear a mask is not the Oklahoma Standard of caring for and helping one another.

Petition to Florida Attorney General's Office, Ashley Moody, Florida state prosecutors, Florida Department of Law Enforcement

Free Florida COVID-19 data analyst Rebekah Jones

Rebekah Jones is a former employee of the Florida Department of Health. In her role as a data scientist, she curated and analyzed COVID-19 data, while also helping to manage the state's COVID-19 dashboard. Jones publicly alleged she and others were pressured to manipulate the data for better appearances, thereby helping allow the state to reopen businesses that were closed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. She was subsequently terminated from her role by the Department of Health for "insubordination." Following her termination, Jones's home was raided by armed Florida police, who seized her computer equipment and other electronic devices. On January 13, 2021, it was reported that a motion to return Jones's seized property was neither granted nor denied by a county judge. As of January 17, 2021, there is an outstanding warrant for Jones's arrest. She has indicated that she will surrender to authorities, potentially facing a heretofore undisclosed felony charge. In a free and open society, it is absolutely essential that analysts and scientists be allowed to conduct their work without undue pressure and fear of censorship or legal repercussions. They must be allowed to freely share public information and participate in a scientific discourse, especially at a time when human lives are imminently threatened by a global pandemic. We hereby call upon Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody, the Florida Attorney General's Office, Florida state prosecutors, and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to take these actions: Immediately recall the arrest warrant for Rebekah Jones. Fully disclose and immediately drop charge(s) against Rebekah Jones. Return all personal computers and other property taken from her residence. Establish, disclose, and enforce policies that promote a truly unrestricted exchange of data with the public by those who curate and analyze it, without any undue interference. Make all source data sets (as validated by data analysts, engineers, and scientists using generally accepted best practices) available to the public, redacting only that which is strictly necessary according to generally accepted best practices (such as removing the minimal amount of personally identifiable information necessary to protect the privacy of individual people) and publicly disclosing all such redactions. Vigorously protect all whistleblowers acting in good faith from all forms of harassment and retribution, whether systematic or otherwise.

Petition to U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives, U.S. Governors

Ramp up COVID-19 testing and hiring of contact tracers nationwide otherwise 1M+ will die.

Over 80,000 have died in US due to COVID-19 at the time of writing this. More deaths continue even after shelter in place for more than 30 days in most of the states. CDC and WH have provided different models for best and worst case scenarios. This petition is to request significant increase in government organized nationwide effort for COVID-19 testing and contact tracing. Centralized effort is necessary as folks move from one state to another so individual state's contact tracing will not be able to make a significant impact unless Federal Government steps up and help states both in terms of resources, support and political willpower needed for each state's effort to work cohesively. South Korea, Australia, New Zealand have successfully contained COVID-19 disease even though disease start was reported in each of these countries around the same time. USA has been lagging in testing and contact tracing from day 1. This petition is to request U.S. House of Representatives, US Senate and President Trump to invest in widespread COVID-19 testing and contact tracing. An estimated 45 billion dollars are needed in this field alone - and it will possibly require ongoing additional funding - if COVID-19 cases continue to rise the way and spread in rest of the population. An estimated 1 million people can die in U.S. alone if this disease as per Tom Frieden ex-CDC Director (https://www.thinkglobalhealth.org/article/could-coronavirus-kill-million-americans The time to act is now !! We urgently need widespread accurate COVID-19 testing, prompt isolation of cases and proper contact tracing - all led by teams of trained people - to control the COVID-19 pandemic and thereby allow safe opening of the country. The text and message of this petition has been reviewed and approved by Dr Rakesh Ahuja, MD Bridgewater NJ (USA)
